I want a K9 escort when I go to the movie theater

20 06 2008

A young couple was robbed leaving the local movie theater last night. An 18 year old girl heckled the police officers and was bit by a K9, whose job it is to protect the police officers. A second girl was arrested for repeated heckling and refusal to leave the area. The worst part of all of this, as quoted from the St. Mary’s Today: Online Edition, “Both juveniles were charged with robbery, theft and 2nd degree assault and released to their parents.” RELEASED TO THEIR PARENTS!! THEY VIOLENTLY ROBBED TWO INNOCENT PEOPLE AND DID NOT SPEND AN HOUR IN JAIL! That is absolute bullcrap. Period.

There is a problem in today’s society and it is this: our judicial system. Granted, we have come a looooong way from the all-white male juries and corruptly-elected judges. But criminals, convicts, addicts, and scumbags are constantly imprisoned and released like it was there job! There is no personal accountability anymore. That flew out of the window when a woman sued McDonald’s for serving her hot coffee at too high of a temperature.

In light of recent news, I hereby refuse to financially support both the Loews theater in Lexington Park and the city of Waldorf. I will not so much as buy a 12-ounce fountain soda from the WaWa. I refuse to support a place that so neglegently takes care of its citizens.

I’d like to thank the academy…

The following link takes you to a hilarious website thats lifespan will expire as soon as some other federal government folly arises. But until that day comes, waste your slow afternoons on How I Spent My Stimulus.

Another invokation from YouTube…

18 05 2008

My previous YouTube link was not a particularly humorous one so I have decided to redeem myself with the following clips from May 18th’s episode of Saturday Night Live. Again, I am not endorsing or opposing the particular candidate, but find the humor too great to not be shared.

Another Mockumentary?

16 05 2008

It is rare for me to publicly endorse a political candidate. I learned this from my parents who have never burned a bridge with a friend or relative in the 6 states, 2 countries, and multiple communities they have lived in. But I am about to break that trend.

Just like Michael Moore’s ‘documentaries’, the following clip is seamlessly edited to serve the purpose of shining a spotlight on the inadequacies of a specific topic. Just like Michael Moore’s ‘documentaries’, the following clip should be taken with a grain of salt.

On the other hand…there are some things I cannot get past, mainly the religion part. That being said, please view the following video and let me know what you think. Not necessarily about the video, but the subject.   **Happy Voting!!**

Books for Teens

15 05 2008

I love to read, no matter what the medium, message, or moment. I am usually reading two or three books at a time while listening to one on my commute to work and school. I love when someone is willing to take a shot at the art of convincing me to read a certain book, and am often surprised by how right people are. [This goes for the Harry Potter series (J.C.), Janet Evanovich (B.M.), and Jodi Picoult (customer).] Sometimes I don’t trust one person’s opinion, though, so I look for a second. This is when I go to www.flamingnet.com

Father and son duo Seth and Gary Cassel own and operate this book review site for young adults. What is really fun is that the reviews are written by young adults! Teens ask or are invited to review a specific title, which is then edited by adult underwriters. The communication between the student reviewers and adult underwriters is just wonderful! The personal aspect of the entire process is really nice. Underwriters’ suggestions don’t have to be implemented into the review, as the adults only try to guide the students to better writing. The communication between Gary & Seth and the folks who patronize their website is quick and polite and professional. This pair has a good thing going.

A little explaination

inked2ways means books and tattoos

I am an aspiring librarian, specifically a Young Adult Services librarian. God called me to this career and I won’t let Him down.

Simply put, my tattoos mean family, faith in God, maturity, spirituality, and beauty.
